Softball Recap: Joliet Central Takes a Loss

Joliet Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They lost 19-6 to the Plainfield South Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in April.

Haydn Voss made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Victoria Godinez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Joliet Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-27. As for Plainfield South, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-14 record.

Joliet Central and Plainfield South could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Steelmen (ranked 503rd) will meet LaSalle-Peru (ranked 19th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Plainfield South will face off against Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (140 vs. 44).
