The Pandora-Gilboa Rockets will be taking part in a tournament against the McComb Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pandora-Gilboa is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Kalida just ended the team's six-match winning streak on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rockets have suffered since September 15th.
Pandora-Gilboa was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Kalida work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-16, 26-24.
Meanwhile, McComb posted their closest victory since August 18th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Riverdale 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
McComb was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 19-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-7.
Pandora-Gilboa's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for McComb, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Pandora-Gilboa has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.4 aces per game. However, it's not like McComb struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
