Recap: Trenton Bulldogs vs. Lathrop Mules

The Trenton Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Lathrop Mules with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Trenton strolled past Lathrop with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Trenton also won the last time the pair played back in September.

Trenton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Hughs out in front who rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Novak, who rushed for 214 yards and a touchdown.

Several Mules players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Crain, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Trenton's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Lathrop and 2-8 KIPP Legacy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Lathrop, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Trenton will take on Mid-Buchanan at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Mid-Buchanan is ranked 140th, while Trenton is ranked 145th). Lathrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
