Softball Game Preview: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Leesville Road Pride

Wake Forest is a perfect 8-0 against Leesville Road since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wake Forest Cougars will head out to face off against the Leesville Road Pride at 4:30 p.m. Leesville Road took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wake Forest, who comes in off a win.

Wake Forest had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Enloe on Wednesday. Everything went Wake Forest's way against Enloe as Wake Forest made off with a 13-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Not much got past Jil Livengood, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Enloe off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Bowers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Nova Pate, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Leesville Road unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Wakefield on Wednesday, falling 7-0. The Pride have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Bryanna Guilliams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

Everything went Wake Forest's way against Leesville Road in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Wake Forest made off with a 13-1 win. Does Wake Forest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leesville Road turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
