Basketball Recap: Ryleigh Weaver Key Part of a Team Effort in Centurions Win

Cicero Prep Academy won the last time they faced Superior and things went their way on Monday too. The Cicero Prep Academy Centurions blew past the Superior Panthers 40-18. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.

Cicero Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryleigh Weaver led the charge by going 6 for 10 en route to 13 points. Weaver continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Yourkoski, who posted eight points and five steals.

Cicero Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Superior lost, don't look at Lilianna Fritz. Despite the final result, she earned ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.6% of Superior's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Cicero Prep Academy pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.3 points per game. As for Superior, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Cicero Prep Academy has already played their next game (against The Gregory School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Superior has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against San Manuel.
