Softball Game Preview: Washington-Liberty Generals vs. Wakefield School Fighting Owls

Washington-Liberty hasn't had much luck against Wakefield School recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Generals will head out to challenge the Fighting Owls at 6:30 p.m. Washington-Liberty has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Washington-Liberty came up short against Herndon and fell 12-7. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Celia Anbinder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Wakefield School fell victim to West Springfield and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Fighting Owls' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Washington-Liberty suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Wakefield School, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Washington-Liberty suffered a grim 15-7 defeat to Wakefield School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
