Game recap: Central Catholic High School Football Team defeats Pontiac

PONTIAC, Ill. - Central Catholic (Bloomington, Ill.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 26-23 victory over Pontiac (Ill.) on Saturday. The Saints took the lead for good when they threw a touchdown.

After trailing 19-8 at the half, the Indians went ahead on a passing touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth.

By the end of the third, Central Catholic found itself trailing by four points as Pontiac captured the lead thanks to three scores in the quarter. PHS scored on a touchdown run by Andrew Mays, a two-point conversion and a Kyle DeLong touchdown pass to Nick Wotton in the quarter.

A 27-0 Central Catholic victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.



With the win the Bloomington school extended its winning streak to three games.

Pontiac (3-2) goes up against University in a Corn Belt game matchup next week, while Central Catholic (3-2) locks horns with Rantoul also in a Corn Belt game.
