Baseball Recap: Christ the King Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Christ the King nor Randleman made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Crusaders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 5-3. The win was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Owen Shipman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Christ the King is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Shipman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Shipman wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Troy Alderfer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Alderfer a new career-high.

Christ the King kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Christ the King's record is now 14-7. As for Randleman, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-5 record.

As of now, neither Christ the King nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
