Baseball Recap: Woodside Gets the Win

Woodside won the last time they faced Denbigh and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolverines won by a run and slipped past the Patriots 7-6. The game was the first time the Wolverines have beaten the Patriots on their field since May 18, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Mattaniah Cook, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jelani Herbert, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Woodside and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Denbigh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
