Football Recap: Central Hinds Academy Takes a Loss

Central Hinds Academy lost against Riverfield Academy back in September of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars took a 30-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While the Cougars had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Raiders 6-0.

When it comes to explaining why Central Hinds Academy lost, don't look at Mason Copeland. Despite the final result, he rushed for 98 yards and one score on only eight carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 58 yards. Fischer Uzzle got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Central Hinds Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Riverfield Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6.

Coming up, Central Hinds Academy will square off against Leake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverfield Academy, they will face off against Tri-County Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Rebels have now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.
