Basketball Game Preview: Northeastern Knights vs. Yorktown Tigers

The Northeastern Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Yorktown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Yorktown took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Northeastern, who comes in off a win.

While Knights fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They took down Adams Central 70-53 on Thursday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Flying Jets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Adysson Kircher was nothing short of spectacular: she shot 76% from the field to rack up 33 points and five steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Karri Gammon, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Yorktown came up short against Guerin Catholic last Tuesday and fell 58-46.

Northeastern will have to keep a close watch on Lilly Sylvester and Olivia Conklin, a pair of players who had a big impact on Yorktown's prior game. Sylvester went 7-for-11 en route to 20 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Conklin shot 46% from the field on her way to 14 points and five assists. The game was Sylvester's fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Northeastern strolled past Yorktown in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 56-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
