Basketball Recap: John F. Kennedy Comes Up Short

John F. Kennedy and Somerset squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but John F. Kennedy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Somerset Bulldogs by a score of 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered since November 27, 2024.

Despite the loss, John F. Kennedy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayden Saunders went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saunders has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Ragland, who posted 11 points.

John F. Kennedy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-21 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. The win was the 14th in a row for Somerset, bringing their record for this year to 24-11.

John F. Kennedy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somerset, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-39 defeat against LBJ Austin on the 22nd.
