Rock Port triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Bannack Skillen

Recap: Rock Port Blue Jays vs. DeKalb Tigers

The Rock Port Blue Jays entered their tilt with the DeKalb Tigers with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Rock Port took down DeKalb 59-43 on Wednesday. Given Rock Port's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while DeKalb is ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bannack Skillen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jack Meyerkorth was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.

Rock Port is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for DeKalb, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Port's road trip will continue as they head out to face King City at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. King City is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for DeKalb, they will head out on the road to take on West Nodaway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Nodaway is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
