Sandpoint hasn't had much luck against Coeur d'Alene recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Sandpoint will host Coeur d'Alene at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sandpoint took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Lakeland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Sandpoint sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Lakeland on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Marlee Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Avery Inge was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Cadence Skibitsky was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Coeur d'Alene put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Moscow 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Leah Nordman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Coeur d'Alene got a big performance out of Jenna Davenport, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Davenport has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ollie Dudley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Coeur d'Alene always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moscow only posted an OBP of .438.
Coeur d'Alene pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.2 runs this season. As for Sandpoint, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Sandpoint might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Coeur d'Alene in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Sandpoint have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
