Softball Recap: Mountain Heritage's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Mountain Heritage won the last time they faced Avery County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars blew past the Vikings 12-2. That looming 12-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Nevaeh Buchanan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Buchanan was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Layla Worley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (five). Another player making a difference was Madi Dillinger, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Mountain Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain Heritage's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Avery County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Mountain Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
