Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was the 29-27 winner over Coahoma County when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Independence Wildcats took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coahoma County Red Panthers on Friday.

Caitlin Hall was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 15 rebounds, and ten blocks for Coahoma County. Hall is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 56 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tamia Fields, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Coahoma County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 24-5.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats duke it out with the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Coahoma County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
