Recap: Lewis County Lions vs. Russell Red Devils

The Lewis County Lions's 22-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Russell on Tuesday, falling 61-22. Lewis County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-11.

Russell was led to victory by Gabby Oborne and Shaelyn Steele. Oborne scored 15 points, while Steele scored 18 points. Steele hasn't dropped below 15 points for 22 straight games. Another player making a difference was Bethany Allen, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Lewis County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Russell, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Lewis County will stay at home for another game and welcome the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Raceland is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Russell, they will head out on the road to square off against the Musketeers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenup County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Red Devils are ranked 17th).
