Baseball Recap: North Mecklenburg Takes a Loss

After soaring to 15 runs the game before, North Mecklenburg was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They came up short against the Hopewell Titans, falling 13-2. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 17-3 to the Titans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ran Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. North Mecklenburg is 2-1 when Diaz posts three or more hits, but 7-8 otherwise.

With the defeat, North Mecklenburg broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9. As for Hopewell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

While North Mecklenburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
