Bay hasn't had much luck against Rocky River recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rockets will host the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Bay didn't have quite enough to beat Magnificat and fell 6-5. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cam Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Stehlik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Rocky River made sure to put some runs up on the board against Valley Forge on Wednesday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Patriots. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Ava Mae DeMooy spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Elizabeth Smalley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Maggie Heigle was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Rocky River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bay's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Rocky River, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3.
Bay couldn't quite get it done against Rocky River in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 13-8. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
