Recap: Pinecrest Academy Paladins vs. Cornerstone Prep Academy
On Saturday, Pinecrest Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to Cornerstone Prep Academy. Pinecrest Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Pinecrest Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Frain. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Frain scored a full 36.5% of Pinecrest Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Johnny Lynch was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Cornerstone Prep Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Cobb, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Cobb's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eli Stone, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Pinecrest Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Pinecrest Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Strong Rock Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Strong Rock Christian will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Cornerstone Prep Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Excel Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
