Softball Preview: Roseville Tigers vs. River Valley Falcons

Roseville has been on the road for seven straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the River Valley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roseville will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

In what's become a running theme this season, Roseville gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They put the hurt on Antelope with a sharp 12-4 victory.

Alyssa MacFarlane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Roseville got a massive performance out of Karissa Avila, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Abigail Knopp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, River Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Yuba City on Thursday and fell 2-1. River Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

River Valley also let their pitcher toss all 11 innings and she was also dialed-in: Payton Smith gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 11 innings set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, River Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Garcia, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Even though they lost, River Valley didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuba City only tossed six.

Roseville pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
