Baseball Game Preview: Aurora Greenmen vs. Barberton Magics

Aurora is 8-2 against Barberton since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Greenmen will venture away from home to square off against the Magics at 5:00 p.m. Aurora hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Aurora lost 12-1 to St. Vincent-St. Mary on Saturday.

Aurora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Lukasik, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Lukasik is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Barberton was able to grind out a solid victory over Ellet on Saturday, taking the game 5-1.

Jayden Patterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Michael Banks was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Reis Truax was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Barberton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Aurora, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Aurora couldn't quite get it done against Barberton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Greenmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
