The Weeki Wachee Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Zephyrhills Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weeki Wachee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Weeki Wachee barely beat Fivay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets blew past the Falcons 12-2 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Caydence Murray, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hailey Tarner was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Weeki Wachee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Zephyrhills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against River Ridge, falling 11-1.

Zephyrhills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hope Tackett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Zephyrhills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Weeki Wachee, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Zephyrhills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Weeki Wachee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Zephyrhills, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Weeki Wachee's hitters?

Weeki Wachee was able to grind out a solid victory over Zephyrhills in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, winning 7-4. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
