The Queensbury Spartans will square off against the Glens Falls Black Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Queensbury will be strutting in after a win while Glens Falls will be coming in after a loss.
Queensbury will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Broadalbin-Perth on Friday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 14-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Kaylee Heritage spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
At the plate, Norah Hunt was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Haylee Hayes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Queensbury hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Glens Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Scotia-Glenville on Thursday and fell 2-1.
Isabella Johnson put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one double.
Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Fallyn Bennett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Glens Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Queensbury, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
