Football Recap: Hardaway Comes Up Short

Hardaway fought the good fight in their overtime match against Greenville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 32-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Marquel Deering was a one-man wrecking crew For Greenville. as he rushed for 202 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Deering also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss). Zayden Kelley was another key player, rushing for 96 yards on only seven carries.

Hardaway is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Greenville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Hardaway will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shaw at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th. This will be the Hawks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Greenville, they will take on Pike County at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th.
