Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Wells Tigers vs. Kit Carson Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cheyenne Wells Tigers challenge the Kit Carson Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cheyenne Wells has six straight wins, Kit Carson has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Cheyenne Wells took their match with ease, bagging a 72-15 victory over Hi-Plains. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Kit Carson came up short against Evangel Christian Academy on Saturday and fell 48-38.

Cheyenne Wells will need focus on slowing down Mason Marriott, one of several Kit Carson players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Irwin, who scored seven points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Kit Carson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Cheyenne Wells is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for Kit Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Cheyenne Wells beat Kit Carson 59-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Cheyenne Wells have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kit Carson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
