Baseball Game Preview: Estancia Eagles vs. La Serna Lancers

The Estancia Eagles will take on the La Serna Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Estancia will be strutting in after a win while La Serna will be coming in after a defeat.

Estancia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Pioneer on Tuesday. Everything went Estancia's way against Pioneer as Estancia made off with an 8-1 victory. That looming 8-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Lincoln Silva tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Athan Perez was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Atkinson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for La Serna's offense. They came up short against Warren on Tuesday, falling 11-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

Estancia pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for La Serna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Estancia skirted past La Serna 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estancia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
