Baseball Recap: McKinley Comes Up Short

McKinley was the 4-3 winner over Mineral Ridge when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Dragons took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams on Thursday. The Red Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McKinley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brixton Gilmour, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Gilmour has become a key player for the Red Dragons: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-14 otherwise. Jonathan Barrell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

McKinley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Mineral Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

McKinley will face off against Poland Seminary at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mineral Ridge, they will challenge McDonald at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
