Verona (N.J.) 43-26 thanks to dual threat quarterback

After taking the lead on a Slattery touchdown pass to
Paul Rufo in the first quarter, the Panthers led 15-7 at the half.
Cedar Grove expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. CG scored three times in the third, including once on a Slattery touchdown pass to
David Njoku.
Frank Ferrari was an important factor even in defeat, and rushed for four touchdowns for the Hillbillies.
Slattery was the top performer for the Panthers. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Cedar Grove also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 14-6.
The loss comes after Verona defeated Glen Ridge 42-13 last week. The loss snapped Verona's three-game winning streak.
In a Super Essex - Colonial game next week Verona (4-3) takes on Weequahic, and Cedar Grove (6-1) will go up against Central also in a Super Essex - Colonial game.
