Baseball Recap: Montevideo Comes Up Short

Montevideo came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-4 to the St. Charles Saints. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Thunderhawks, who until this matchup were averaging 3.71 runs allowed.

Griffin Epema was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Brody Dack, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Montevideo's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for St. Charles, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montevideo will host Mankato East at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Charles, they will challenge Lake City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Saints 2.8, the Tigers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
