Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Stars vs. Lincoln Lions

The Centennial Stars and the Lincoln Lions will face off at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Lincoln likes a good challenge.

Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mifflin 78-8 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-4.

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aza Corbett, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. The contest was Corbett's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Houston, who went 13 for 20 en route to 29 points and five steals.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 32 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Lincoln over Central Crossing in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln blew Central Crossing out of the water with a 62-26 final score. The game marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season.

Centennial pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
