Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Newbury Park

Newbury Park had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the St. Francis Golden Knights. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Davis Trudeau looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Newbury Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Medhurst, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another was Andrew Vega, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Newbury Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. Francis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Newbury Park will square off against Valencia at 3:00 p.m. on March 5th. Valencia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for St. Francis, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-1 victory against Glendale on the 28th.
