Basketball Recap: O'niya Reed's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Decatur Eisenhower over Mt. Pulaski

Decatur Eisenhower lost against Mt. Pulaski back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers and the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers didn't end well, with the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers falling 62-47. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 246th).

Decatur Eisenhower lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was O'Niya Reed, who went 10-for-20 on her way to 24 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Ramey, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Decatur Eisenhower was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Decatur Eisenhower dropped their record down to 2-25 with the loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mt. Pulaski, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Decatur Eisenhower has already played their next game, a 58-53 defeat against Centennial on the 15th. Mt. Pulaski has also already played their next matchup (against Henry-Senachwine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
