Soccer Game Preview: Berkeley vs. Bishop O'Dowd

The Berkeley Yellowjackets will face off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Berkeley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.

Berkeley proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Castro Valley, sneaking past 2-1. Given Berkeley's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Castro Valley are ranked 272nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd kept a clean sheet against Piedmont on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Highlanders. The result kept Bishop O'Dowd happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 21st.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Senai Hadgu, who's now up to two this season.

Bishop O'Dowd's win bumped their record up to 8-5-6. As for Berkeley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2-2.

Berkeley beat Bishop O'Dowd 2-0 when the teams last played back in January. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
