Softball Recap: De Pere Takes a Loss

De Pere came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Slinger Owls by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redbirds have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Julianne Bradford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

This is the second loss in a row for De Pere and nudges their season record down to 14-7. As for Slinger, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. De Pere will square off against Ashwaubenon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Redbirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Slinger, they will face off against Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
