Softball Recap: 14 Straight Road Victories for Ellington

Ellington proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the Granby Memorial Bears get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Camryn Fisher's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 32 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tyla Gambacorta was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one double. Madison Havener was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Ellington's victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Granby Memorial, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Ellington will venture away from home to square off against Bristol Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season. As for Granby Memorial, they will square off against Minnechaug Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
