Baseball Recap: Richard Winn Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Jefferson Davis Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Richard Winn Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Four seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The result came thanks to Johnathan Bonds's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Bennett Nicholson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Charlie Bonds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Richard Winn Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

As of now, neither Richard Winn Academy nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
