Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Whitehorse

It's playoff time, and Whitehorse had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Monument Valley Cougars on Friday by a score of 47-36 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Whitehorse's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keiarra Martin, who posted 11 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Those eight steals gave Martin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Clark, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Despite the loss, Monument Valley still got an impressive performance from Dakotah Cly, who earned 11 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Stanley, who scored six points.

Whitehorse's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points over those games. As for Monument Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Whitehorse wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 39-29 victory against Valley on the 1st. Monument Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
