Softball Recap: Onaga Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Onaga was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Doniphan West Mustangs 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Buffaloes: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Monday, they had to take a 9-1 loss.

Willow Hochstedler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Annie Force was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Addison DeChant also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Onaga's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Doniphan West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Onaga will take on Blue Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Doniphan West, they will challenge Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Troy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something Doniphan West will no doubt try to take advantage of.
