Preview: Brantley Bulldogs vs. Luverne Tigers
Brantley is 1-9 against Luverne since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Brantley Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Luverne Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Brantley didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Kinston, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brantley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Grimes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. CoCo Stamps was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Luverne came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Highland Home with a 35-29 victory.
Brantley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Luverne, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Brantley suffered a grim 47-26 defeat to Luverne in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Brantley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
