Softball Recap: Poly's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Verdugo Hills, Poly was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Arleta Mustangs. The win was some much needed relief for the Parrots as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

ISABELLA NAVARRO spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, JACKIE GALLARDO was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. JAZLYN GALLARDO was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Poly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Poly's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for Arleta, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Poly will take on rival Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Arleta is set to face off against their familiar foe San Fernando at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
