University is a perfect 10-0 against Flagler Palm Coast since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The University Titans will take on the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. University is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
University easily dispatched New Smyrna Beach on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. University fell just short of Spruce Creek by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.
University got a good showing from Kendra Lee, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Lee has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, University saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Fisher, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Bella Delgado was another, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Meanwhile, Flagler Palm Coast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Palatka, falling 11-3.
Mackenzie West was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Foster, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Flagler Palm Coast's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Flagler Palm Coast's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: University hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Flagler Palm Coast, though, as they've only averaged .206. Will they be able to contain University's hitters?
University took their win against Flagler Palm Coast when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. Does University have another victory up their sleeve, or will Flagler Palm Coast turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
