Basketball Recap: Reserve's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Reserve's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 52-40 victory over the Animas Panthers. The win was some much needed relief for the Mountaineers as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Animas' loss came despite strong showings from Tallon Marble and Lucas Mulganon. Marble went 9 for 22 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds, while Mulganon posted seven points in addition to nine boards and five blocks. Those 25 points gave Marble a new career-high. Corey Terrell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Reserve's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Animas, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reserve will take on Hozho Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hozho Academy will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Reserve surely won't give up without a fight. Animas has already played their next game (against Lordsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
