Soccer Recap: Gillespie Comes Up Short

Gillespie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Greenville Comets who were credited with the victory. The Greenville Comets got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to the Gillespie Miners' one. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Greenville this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in March.

Gillespie's record is now 2-5-1. As for Greenville, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Gillespie is set to challenge their familiar foe Carlinville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Greenville will square off against rival Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
