Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

A well-balanced attack led Sacred Heart Academy over Algoma Christian in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Sacred Heart Academy took down the Algoma Christian Knights 61-42. This was a revenge game for Sacred Heart Academy: when they faced off against Algoma Christian back in December of 2024, they had to take a 57-28 loss.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Afton, who posted 12 points. Afton continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadi Shaw, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Sacred Heart Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36 points. As for Algoma Christian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy has already played their next match (against Zion Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Algoma Christian will venture away from home to take on Wyoming HomeSchool at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
