Softball Recap: Evansville North Takes a Loss

If Evansville North was riding high fresh off their 17-8 takedown of Carmel last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskies fell 8-4 to the Gibson Southern Titans on Monday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Evansville North got a good showing from Lily Elliot, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Elliot has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hannah Wilke was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Ripley Anderson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Evansville North has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Gibson Southern, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville North will challenge Evansville Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gibson Southern, they will square off against Boonville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Titans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
