Basketball Recap: Taya Pace's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Layton over Pleasant Grove

Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pleasant Grove Vikings. The Lancers were probably out for revenge after losing 57-41 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Layton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taya Pace, who posted eight points. BrynDee Kozisek was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

Pleasant Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tabi Clark led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Connors, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Layton will welcome Syracuse at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant Grove, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 40-26 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 4th.
