Softball Recap: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Ponderosa Bruins
Christian Brothers extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They came up short against the Ponderosa Bruins, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-7 back in March.
Christian Brothers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Machenzie Aurich, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Aurich has hit this season. Another was Isabella Sheppard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Ponderosa, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
On Ponderosa's side, Haley Warney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate McCartney, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Escobar, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
