Football Recap: Cy-Fair Falls Despite Big Games from Henry Lamar Brooks Jr and Sean Riegler + How To Watch

Cy-Fair fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Memorial on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 37-31 to the Mustangs. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cy-Fair had strong showings from Sean Riegler, who threw for 256 yards and three TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes, and Henry Lamar Brooks Jr, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 69 yards.

Kade Gulledge produced another solid effort rushing for 164 yards and three touchdowns for Memorial. Gulledge didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made two total tackles. Grant Sperandio was another key player, throwing for 190 yards and a pair of TDs.

Cy-Fair's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Memorial, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Cy-Fair didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-28 victory against Stratford on the 18th. As for Memorial, they have also already played their next game, a 49-21 win against Cypress Creek on the 16th.
