Basketball Recap: Hayward Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lucas Hansen and Ryker Chipman

Hayward was the 78-58 winner over Ashland when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Hurricanes fell 92-83 to the Oredockers on Friday.

Hayward's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ryker Chipman, who shot 75% from the field en route to 28 points along with eight boards and five steals, and Lucas Hansen, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Frey, who posted seven points in addition to ten boards and seven assists.

Hayward's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ashland, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Hayward has already played their next contest (against Osceola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ashland will take on Ladysmith in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
